Making of sand coated Geo Membrane

Key Components of the Machine:

  1. Extruder Unit:

    • This unit melts and extrudes a polymer-based hot melt adhesive. The extrusion process involves feeding plastic resin pellets into the machine, where they are heated and melted into a viscous state. The molten polymer is then uniformly spread onto a base geomembrane material.

  2. Geomembrane Unwinding System:

    • This section unwinds and feeds the base geomembrane sheet (made of materials like HDPE, LLDPE, PVC, etc.) into the coating system. The unwinding system ensures a continuous and smooth supply of the base material for further processing.

  3. Coating Unit:

    • The coating unit applies the hot melt adhesive layer to the geomembrane. The adhesive needs to be spread evenly across the surface, ensuring a uniform coating. This unit may consist of multiple rollers or blades for controlling the thickness and uniformity of the coating.

  4. Sand Spreading Unit:

    • This unit applies a layer of sand over the adhesive-coated geomembrane. The sand can be applied using a controlled sprinkling or spreading mechanism to ensure uniform distribution.

  5. Heating and Curing System:

    • After the sand is applied, a heating system is used to cure the adhesive, ensuring that the sand is securely bonded to the geomembrane surface. This may involve infrared heaters, hot air blowers, or other curing methods.

  6. Cooling System:

    • After heating and curing, the geomembrane needs to be cooled down before it is wound up. The cooling system can include air or water cooling mechanisms to lower the temperature gradually.

  7. Winding and Cutting Unit:

    • After the coating and curing process, the final product is wound into rolls. This unit may also have a cutting system for cutting the geomembrane into desired lengths.

  8. Control System:

    • An integrated control system, usually PLC-based, controls the speed, temperature, tension, and coating thickness, ensuring consistent product quality.

Advantages of Using a Hot Melt Adhesive and Sand Coated Geomembrane:

  • Enhanced Durability: The sand coating provides additional UV resistance and increases the lifespan of the geomembrane.

  • Improved Friction: Sand coating improves the geomembrane's friction properties, which is beneficial in applications where slippage is a concern, such as in slope protection.

  • Customizable Properties: The machine can be adjusted to produce different thicknesses, adhesive types, and sand granulations depending on the requirements.
